YOGA MYTHOLOGY:

BHAGAVAD GITA

October 11 - 13, 2024 | Fri 5-9pm, Sat and Sun 11-7pm

Immerse yourself in a weekend of philosophy and mythology as we dissect the Bhagavad Gita. The Gita is a 700 verse Hindu scripture that dates back as far as 400 BCE. This ancient story of war explores the moral and emotional dilemmas faced in the journey towards dharma and the path to divinity.

Join Katie and Jolene for a weekend reading, exploring, discussing and applying the lessons of this mythical scripture to the way we practice yoga in the modern world.  The Gita encourages self study and reflection while practicing detachment from personal reward during one’s spiritual journey.  The moral and emotional dilemmas faced by Arjuna are beautifully crafted to explore the journey of human life through the practice of Bhakti, Kharma and Jhana yoga. We will discuss our individual understandings of the scripture, spend time journaling and explore practical applications and ways to share the Gita with our students through action, devotion and self inquiry.

Plan to dress in comfortable clothes that allow you to move and meditate comfortably. Students and teachers are welcome to attend this workshop. Instructors outside of the 300 hour teacher training, this workshop does qualify for 20 hours of continuing education through the Yoga Alliance. Please plan to read or reread the Bhagavad Gita in preparation for the weekend.
